Organisation is key in the workplace, not only will it ensure that more work will get done, but it will also make for happier workers!

Primarily, being organised will save time.

If workers don't know what they are meant to be doing and when, it will be very time consuming to try and sort this out. If a clear structure is set at the start of the day, or even the start of the week, then people will know what they are doing at all times.

An organised work place will also reduce stress of workers. It can be very difficult trying to get through a day if they are constantly unsure if what they are doing is right, or if they can't find something they need etc.

As well as the workplace as a whole being organised, it would also be beneficial for workers individually to be organised. For example if they prioritise tasks, they will be much more productive and make better use of their time.

So having an organised workplace will not only improve workers attitude towards the work, but can also make them more productive.

I've put together a short list of things that can be done to get an organised workplace quickly.

  1. Make sure that desks are clean and tidy at all times so that things are easy to find.
  2. Make sure important documents are organised, either in paper form or on the computer. Put everything into named files so when you need to access something you can get to it quickly.

  3. Planning ahead will ensure that you will know what you are doing at all times and you won't have to do anything last minute.
  4. Time keeping is vital, and similar to planning ahead, it will ensure that you have enough time to do everything in a day.
