What is the advantage of using the combination of glass fiber and concrete?

The fibers increase the structural integrity of the concrete.

Over time, of course, the natural (very) weak acidity of the glass may attack the (predominantly basic) concrete, so in the long term it sometimes does more harm than good - a problem occurring in some buildings built here in the 70s

Good point Ray. I do know that the use of various fibers, other than glass, are being used by some manufacturers now.
