The last thing any student want is a non-reliable laptop. Thinkpads have a big reputation ever since its IBM days. It's super durable, compact, spill resistant, has a removable battery, comfortable keyboard, can dock to a bigger monitor. and looks professional. I have one from 2009 and one from 2006 that still works flawlessly in the modern environment. Probably the best non-macbook in the market.
