Online Banking

State Bank of India customers can register for internet banking services at their bank - if you have done so already this can be a very fast and efficient way of checking your balance without having to go to an ATM.

OnlineSBI can generate an account statement for a date range for any of your accounts. The statement includes transaction details, opening, closing and accumulated balance in the account.

The log in for Personal Accounts is here:

retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/login.htm

and for Corporate Accounts here:

If you have not registered for internet banking you can do so at any State Bank of India Branch.

ATM

You can also check your Account Balance in the conventional way by finding an ATM and inserting your card. You'll be promoted to type in your pin - do so carefully making sure to obscure the view of the keypad to make sure nobody see's your pin.

Then you'll be given several options, the one you'll want is of course to check your balance so click on 'Display Balance' - this will bring up a screen displaying your balance. On this screen there will be an option to return your card, click the corresponding button to return your card.

These days, checking your bank balance is easier than waiting for a statement to drop through the post or travelling to your branch of the State Bank of India, although these are still both options.

The SBI has 1300 branches across India, and offices in 36 countries around the world, so chances are there's a branch near you. Find out where your nearest SBI is here.

In addition to 1300 branches, SBI also has over 43,000 Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) dotted across the country. ATMs can be used to check your accounts balance, request a statement, withdraw cash and other basic services. To use an ATM, you will need your credit/debit card and a Personal Identification Number. Your bank will he happy to assist if you are unsure of what to do.

Using the Telephone

You could also telephone the SBI customer services office. The main helplines for SBI customers are on 1800 11 2211, 1800 425 3800 or 080-26599990. It is likely you will be asked some questions for security reasons, such as your bank account number,
your full name and date of birth, etc. They will then be able to access and pass on your details to you.

Using SBI services online

To use the bank's website
to check your account's balance, you will need to have registered first. If you are new to the process, let the website itself guide you, or ask at your local branch, who will check if you are set up to use the SBI online facility. You may need to set up your own password, so make sure you keep a note of it somewhere secure.

Once this is done, you
will be able to check your bank account balance whenever you wish, and is just
a matter of entering a few details, such as your password. It's quite easy once you've used it once or twice.
