When you open a bank account, you will be issued with a bank card, either a debit card which you can use in shops and online, as well as at ATMs; or a basic cashcard which you can use only at ATMs.

Whichever card you receive, you will also get a PIN number (Personal Identification Number), without which your card will be useless.

Your PIN should be issued by your bank automatically, but if you do not receive it, you should contact your bank. The best way to do this is probably by going to your local branch.

You will need to bring your bank account number with you, and should also probably being some identification too. Usually they will be able to set up your PIN for you there and then, depending on which bank you are with.

Once you have your PIN number, you can access your account at an ATM and, if you want to, you can change your PIN to a number which is more memorable to you.
