The word 'taxonomy' is used in scientific terminology to describe the idea of giving names to organisms in accordance with the classification by which scientists can identify them. Broadly you can say that it is the segregation of organisms among their types and then giving a separate name to each of them.

When you use the term in social context with the use of the word 'social taxonomy', you are conveying the same idea but here you are performing segregation among people and not among different kind of species. You can segregate people on different kind of parameters and it can be on the basis of profession, on the basis of religion and some times on the basis of nationality also.

When it comes to the repercussions of 'social taxonomy'; sometimes it has bad effect and in a few cases some good effect also.
