You can never be quite sure how much a business plan is going to cost. Different consultation companies charge different fees for their services, and you can't be quite sure of the amount of work that creating your specific business plan will cost. Most of the cost associated with the business plan is based on how much is required to design it.

  • So what is the rough cost of a business plan?
A business plan can cost between $1000 and $50,000. There is no specific or standard price for a business plan, which is why every business plan is specific to the company it is designed for. The business plan cost is based on the target you set as the beginning, and the resources required to build the plan. Depending on how much you have to spend on a business plan, it's better to spend a bit more on a more detailed plan. The plan is the numbers and the strict plan that your business should adhere to for at least the first two years.

  • So how is the business plan made up?
The plan will calculate the best way for your company to progress based on what market it is in, and the potential of the company to make money in that market. Based on that, there will be a pricing strategy for the product or service the company sells, and a marketing plan that will complement it.

The final part of the plan will incorporate potential financial expectations, balance sheets for the company at certain stages, and analysis of cash flow. This allows you to try and steer the company through these theorized "markers" during the first few years of the company, so that the company is always growing positively.

  • Companies that assist in building a business plan
There is an online consultancy called Business Plan Experts, which can be found at www.businessplanexperts.com. They do very basic, online consulting for small businesses, but it is a good way to understand the process of forming a business plan.

If you go to Microsoft you can find a demo of how to plan your own Business Plan and it wont cost you but to look it up and take notes. Good luck. If that doesn't work then go to any college library and they will have books that will help you learn how to do that. Cost is what you make it to be. You can do it yourself for free.
