Tariffs give local companies a chance to compete with foreign companies. Local companies are often higher quality better made goods and therefore more expensive. Without tariffs, consumers would most likely buy the cheaper and poorly made foreign products, sending American earned dollars out of the country instead of fueling it back in to our own economy.
