Did Congress Pass Unemployment Extension?

YES!!! IT JUST PASSED TODAY!! But know we must act to get it threw the SENATE!!!! Jim Bunning is voting "NO" call him and tell him what you think of that!! 202-224-4343 also call and e-mail ( at least TEN ) times all of the senators on the FINANCE committee,, do it now,, "we" are the only ones making this happen!!!!!

I hear that the senator of kentucky senator bunnning is not passing the unemployment extension. I left the furniture business in n.c. And went into a distribution center that came to town for a more "more stable job" and after 2 months all the older folks were let go.even though you can"t prove discrimination on them! And they knew it! However I look for work everyday! I have only had 26 weeks of unemployment and now 1 dope! Says no to an  extension.he has a house,and eats.I'm not.and I can"t get no help! I need my extension to live on! Well senator bunning.you can find me underneath the catawba bridge with a fire going as I have lost my car,and I will be in the street with the homeless people.I never thought in the u.s.a. This would happen to people!I have worked my whole life and have lost everything!!! How can you do this to people! Our state is one of the highest unemployment rates!I am disgraced to say I am an american!enjoy your warm bed and steak dinner on the peoples tax money!

This is the first time in all my 29yrs of living that I have ever depended on the goverment to live and survive. I have kids and a family that I need to take care of and count on a meal to eat and a home to live in and the assistance you are offered are worse than waiting on the ex-tenson to get passed. We are not all wealthy and we don't have a huge house to live in and we do not have maids taking care of us. We live the normal life and have worked all of our lives and have paid in plenty of taxes and can't get this help that is out there. This is really rediculous if you ask me. But normal citizens are not asked anything we are basically considered nobodys here in our world and country. The immigrants can come to our country and get every kind of help and not asked one question, but not us. HOW UNFAIR IS THIS? The extension needs to be passed at least people who have earned it and that is 99.9% of our world on unemployment!

I sure hope they pass it soon.   My bills are due again and I have no income at all.   I am losing my only vehicle because I cannot pay the payment.   Now how am I suppose to get a job with no vehicle?   I am going to lose my house in less than a month and have nothing.   I too have NEVER collected unemployment, food stamps or anything from our state or government, but have paid into it for years.      And this is what we all get in return?   Somebody needs to do something and help all of us out.   I wish I could afford to take a vacation like all of you in congress.   Do you not feel the least bit guilty about making family's wait for your vote, and all the while starving, and losing everything they have worked for all their lives.   DO SOMETHING SOON!

Well the reason it hasn't been passed is because of people like my father in-law he's been surviving on unemployment for 2 years now! And not doin to much to find work! But because his extension was filed before May 30th, he is still gettin a check! My first claim ended June 6th. I missed the deadline by 6 days! I'm 25 this is the first time I collect unemplyment, I have a daughter and my truck was repoed last thursday! We've have had to move into my in-laws and surviving on my wifes check alone! They need to do something already, I'm looking for work and I'm not being picky but every position has at least 50 people applying! This is ridiculous! Please help!

It has been hard for me as well.   I am now living in my car.   And no way to take a shower or even eat.   The kids are eating peanut butter and jelly.   If the unemployment does not pass.   I will have no choice but to take matters into my own hands.   I will not do any thing to harm anyone, but I will send all my bills and ask for money from the one that out us here in this state.   Mr President you will receive all my debt and hope you can deal with it.   My family needs a home and a shower and food.   It time now the American people to start acting for themselves, if we were latin we get everything handed to us and that is the truth.   I lost my job it was between me and a black person and she stayed and I was let go after 22 years.

My God. My house is in foreclosure, I have almost no money.  I have felt that my life was the worst, however after reading these comments I feel so sad for others. Please try and keep your heads high, it's got to get better. I'm sure that just as it is in my life that this is the most difficult time you may have ever had, it's unbelievably difficult I never thought that we would experience this in the USA. Today I have $14 (no unemployment for 3 weeks) and before this very moment I had no idea how blessed I am to have that. Please everybody stay strong, there has to be a way out of this.

I would like to say unless you've been there you have no clue how the loss of unemployment effects so many people.   This is as painful as losing our employment after 8 years with one company.   At that point I could not get COBRA, because the company closed. Of course, I had not money for it anyway!   I lost two homes, my car, and can get no food stamps, no medical insurance from the state because my unemployment was $129 more a month than was allowed.   My weekly benefit in Arizona $265.   Ok, now I have not received the last two checks for unemployment.   SO>>>> DOES THAT MEAN WE WILL NOW QUALIFY FOR FOOD STAMPS, AND MEDICAL??   If Emergency Unemployment Passes through November 2010.   You keep more people off Welfare!!!!! We need help, we didn't ask for this..... We are working people, we pay our taxes and we have families..... Now, I'm renting and may not even be able to pay rent unfortunately, the next step would be the street..... Not to mention my medical conditions that I can get no help for.   Sad to say this is America!!!!!   And we live here!
I don't want a hand out... And there are so many people that have done the right things. Everyone has a hardship during this time.... I pray for us all!
Please help America... Put yourselves in our situations.

Bunning is a lame duck and he is doing this to keep the others, who do oppose it, from catching the heat.  Do a search on your state senators voting records to see what, if anything, they have done to help those that are unemployed.  In North Carolina they have done nothing.  The best way to let them know how angry you are is to remember this when it is election time and then vote them out of office.  To them the unemployed are faceless, insignificant persons.  They need to realize that they are people with families to feed, bills that need to be paid, who are victims of a bad economy that the politicians helped to create.  Show them that you do matter by voting them out of office when it is time for their re-election.

I just lost my benefits, I was not notified by unemployment that I was losing my benefits, I have my benefits deposited into my checking account, nothing was deposited, I called unemployment and thats when I found out I was not receiving unemployment anymore, she stated that I did not exhaust my benefits but I was not getting them anymore until the extension is passed, I called that wonderful Senator Bunning, and asked his assistant if they read the article on Yahoo about companies do not want to hire the unemployed, so now what do we do!!!!!, I went to school and increased my skills, and have been applying for jobs and getting a lot of rejections, I have a family to feed and bills to pay now what, Oh yea and try to go to social services to see if you can get help, but oh I forgot I am not an illegal immigrant, I am a tax paying hard working American, and today that doesn't mean anything anymore!!!!!

I need the extension to pass people have it hard enough and times r hard on us all but if it don't pass will the crime rate go UP I bet it will and they need to look at that also and they are not . But they also for get that some of us that have lost r job  are also the one that help put them in office  Quest : When it is time to vote again  will you vote for the ones that have said no to this?  I will not. So Please pass this  extension  what if it was your kids  with out a job and needed the extension?

What a tragedy, good people who are hard workers yet due to circumstances beyond their control (The company I worked years for, closed their doors and went bankrupt) are now at the mercy of people in power. Since they are in the decision seat--maybe they can enlighten me as to how I am going to feed my family. This is the very 1st time in 35 years I have ever sought unemployment--thanks for making it such a stress-free experience!!

What is up with this Senator's that we now have in Congress. They need to be voted out of office upon re-election. Americans are not being treated like americans. The senate acts as though this is there money when it's in fact the tax payer's. I have paid taxes as well. If this does not pass and pass soon they are going to see an increase in crime. I have already seen it start in the state of Florida. American's having to suffer at the hands of these jokers.  This is exactly what they are joker and not the kind from Batman. Get their asses voted out of office upon re-election.

I would like to know if they are going to pass the unemployment  .that will leave a lot of people suffering thats not fair.I look every that for a job and can't find one  us people will loose everything they sit up there and get a pay check .to  feed their family's .when we can't .

My wife and I just emailed the GOP and our Republican Senator to the stop the Shenanigans and pass the unemployment extension now!!  We heard that the GOP are the ones that are holding it up.  They need to get some fire under their butts to get this passed so we all can keep our lifelines and survive or they won't get re-elected anytime soon!!

Well.....I'm Glad it passed for now. I don't know how they could let this go down. This would put this country further into the toilet. I think that maybe they should cut the senators pay for the use of unemployment extensions. The sad thing is... Even going to school and earning a degree no one is willing to hire without experience. I have twins coming in April, I can't lose what little I have coming in now. I personally think that this a "Scare" to see if anyone will just start taking jobs to see in there unemployment funds will decrease slower.

This is just ridiculous!! How can 1 Idiot have control of our money!!He and his family eat and sleep well every night , no doubt in my mind!! I have worked for 37 years lost my job last November !!! I have had no luck yet, I search everyday and have gone through savings and Retirement money as well just to keep above water now if this don;t get passed we will be homeless as I have lost my car as well!! This country needs to create jobs for people!!!! We don't make anything in this country. Think we sold out to other countries!!! China!!    We need to have manufacturing and warehousing jobs .    .. I hope and pray just as many other americans that it passes...my husband lost his job and his unemployment ran out in june..he has been job hunting and when he goes to an interview there are hundreds applying for the same job..thank god I work full time...I have to work over 60 hrs a week just to pay the rent and light bill..then theres no money left over for the car payment...insurance...and you can forget about food...thats low on the list...we as americans deserve better then this...

I'm a union electrician. I consider my self a good hard worker I'm like a lot of people that likes to work but now is the time to pass the unemployment. Without it were going to hit rock bottom. Have the benefits been extended? My spouse was laid off last year 2009. I am sick with cancer and will have another surgery the last of June 2010. We are barely surviving on my SS and we have our grandaughter who also is on her late mother's SS. We can not afford the co-pays on my insurance which is a Medicare Advantage plan. I am afraid that the hospital will not admit me because we still owe from the ovarian cancer surgery I had in January this year. Can someone give us an answer?? Please!

I just called Mr Bunning's office and let him know that I havent gotten paid in three weeks and I'm in school f/t with two small children!  She said he supports college, but he doesnt!  How am I supposed to live w/ no $ for 3 weeks or longer?!  I was laid off due to no work from Delphi in Indiana (kokomo) in Jan 09 and started school that June so I am doing what I can!  I told his secretary that I'm sure his kids eat and are well clothed and taken care of, what about all of ours!

Well I don't really know.All I know is that my family and I really depend on unemployment.My wife and I were layed-off and now with no money comming in I don't know what to do. Ive been trying to get a job but it is really heard when you have a criminal background.How does the government expect a EX-FELON get job and be a better person. After   I got out of prison I got a job on construction, But sadly do to the economy they closed down, and now I can't get a job nowhere.Now I understand those people who take there own lives. It is verry sad.

I recieved my extended benefits check June 5th, just when all my bills were do. I have no job yet and no other income but food stamps. I pray Senator Bunning you will find it in your heart to pass the extended benefit package. There are people out here suffering because they have no income. My car note is   due but their is no money. Please God let Senator Bunning pass the bill. In Jesus Name!

Yes we will all be selling drugs, then what next murder rate goes sky high, there will be such terror in people's lives. How could you do this Senator Bunning. How can you sleep at night? Do your children have milk to drink at night? Does your wife need new shoes? Well our kids need food, our wives need shoes, and our kids need a future. This is a shame my husband is a verry hard worker.  He got laid off right before Christmas of last year.  He will get his final unemployment check tomorrow.  I work part time.  But thats not going to pay our house payment, car payment and all our utlities.  What gets me I know someone thats been collecting unemployment since May 2008 and her unemployment is still good until November.  Because she recived another extension.  But now my husband needs it they don't want to help.  Can't get no help from anyone.  What's wrong with this country?

I finally got to call in my unemployment, and I was able to send the information for the last check also. It sounds as though I only have 3 or 4 weeks! Does anyone have any updates as to what is happening? Is a month more all we are now getting? Or is it that we have been given something just until the senate votes? Thanks everyone!

We live in Nevada, one of the highest unemployed states in the US, I and my husband were laid off in Nov and Dec of 09 and still can't find work, we are on unemployment now, we haven't gotten any extensions yet, will we still qualify for an extension if our unemployment runs out and we still haven't found work?

I have been laid off for 30 weeks. I just collected my 2nd tier 1 federally funded check. We are already spending our savings to keep our head above the water. I look every day for a job here in Michigan but being a former manufacturing worker my chances of finding a job are the same as winning $500 on a scratch off lotto ticket.

If I lose my UP checks, me and my family will lose our home. Than what? Welfare you say? Good luck when at least 30,000 people are applying. I guess I will just have to sell drugs or something.

Seems Mr. Bunning is eating and paying his bills on our tax money. Maybe he will hire us to mow his lawn!! Get out and meet the people like you did when you were trying to get elected. I was laided off just before christmas' at a place called pcc who made us train mexican to do our job and then laided us off. What a great company! Now I can't get an extention that hurts we need help. What is happening to america comming to we have no jobs but the mexicans do . What's fare about that and then they tell you its about the money money for then . Not the prople!that sucks big time .help!

People! You are not, or have not received your extension for euc,because of the republican party. that's your answer plain and simple. 

The republican party are the ones that controls the senate and they are the ones against helping the people that are losing their homes, moving back in with there mothers, with there there two year old daughter, like me.

Well at least it passed... That gives us four more weeks; by the time it gets to Senate the benefits would have run out. I am just glad it passed. There are not jobs out there that are paying anything!

How can one person control this?? While he thinks about why he don't want to extend benefits, myself and hundreds of thousands of other have no money, no jobs, no food, soon will not have a home!! What are we going to do?
