Usually an employer has 14 days from the date that is on the letter sent by your state's unemployment office, this is very important to know. A lot of times unemployment offices will let  the employer slide  for responding late, but not the person filing the claim. However you do have a right to know this information and  with it you can sometimes turn a denied unemployment claim into a claim you win by bringing this up. ( technicalities work both ways)
