Please correct me if I'm wrong. To my understanding if an individual or agent earns more than $600.00 a year whether it be by commissions or not it is our responsibility to file a 1099 on them unless they are tax exempt.

Form W-9, is a Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification, is used in the United States income tax system by a third party who must file an information return with the IRS. It requests the taxpayer identification information of a taxpayer (usually in the form of a Social Security Number or Tax Identification Number).
